Gerald "Gerry/Web" J. Wiebenga's Obituary
Gerald “Gerry/Web” J. Wiebenga, age 79, of Spring Lake passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at his home. He was born June 3, 1929, in Grand Haven to Gerrit John and Elizabeth (Wierenga) Wiebenga, and he married the former Mary Shackelford on May 11, 1985.
Mr. Wiebenga was a 1947 graduate of Grand Haven High School and a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities area. He retired from Story & Clark in 1982. Gerry was an avid golfer and bowler, and many people will remember his creative cooking. Gerry especially enjoyed his family and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; a daughter, Diane (Steve) Rowan of Grand Haven; three sons: Don (Carolyn) Wiebenga, Dale (Jill) Wiebenga, both of Grand Haven, and Jeff (Mary) Wiebenga of Spring Lake; a step-son, Jon (Linda) Shackelford of Columbia, SC; eleven grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild; a sister, Irene Kubicek, and a sister-in-law, Jennie Wiebenga, both of Grand Haven. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth; a daughter, Patti Jo; a step-son, Jeff Shackelford; and his brother, Richard Wiebenga.
