Gertrude Bos' Obituary
Gertrude Bos, age 81, passed away at home on September 21, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 12, 1936, in Hammond, IN to John and Jennie (Zandstea) Bouwman. Gert was a member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, sponsor for youth group, bus driver, took part in music and helped with meals. Prior to retirement she was employed with Grand Haven Public Schools as a bus driver for 24 years. Spring Hill Youth Camp is truly a special place for the Bos family in the summers. Gert volunteered for 30 years in the kitchen and bake shop. Cooking, sewing and family time was what Gert enjoyed most. On April 1, 1960, she married James R. Bos Sr. and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2016. SURVIVORS include four children, John Bos, Brenda (Robert) Dorman, James (Cindy) Bos Jr., Marlene (Michael) Baker; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren and five step-great-great-grandchildren and sister, Henrietta Klomp. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Anna Hays. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 25, 2017 at Olivet Evangelical Free Church (6790 Harvey St.) with Rev. Craig Cramblet officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-5 PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 and one hour prior to the service at church. MEMORIALS can be directed to Spring Hill Youth Camp or Olivet Evangelical Free Church General Fund. Burial will take place at Spring Lake Cemetery.
