Jane Saxton
My dear cousins -
It was wonderful being with you at the memorial services for your mom. Everything went so smoothly, I'm sure your mom would have been very proud of all you did to make this event special. I love the photo you chose; blue seemed to be her color. I also love that it was taken in one of her favorite places - East Jordan.
The funeral home was just beautiful; she would have loved all the flowers and plants that were there beside her. Mom thought it was the most beautiful one she has ever been in. It was so nice being with you, your offspring, relatives and friends. Everyone seemed so kind and thoughtful and so many came from far away on the treacherous roads.
I loved the readings you chose during the service, the songs, and the fact that everyone could participate in the communion. Danny's letter was so touching, I'll always remember his birthday from it - October 25. Your cousin did a lovely job also. The choir was good, the food and the servers were wonderful.
It's hard to put so much together when one is grieving, but you really did an excellent job in spite of it. Your mom probably wouldn't have wanted you to fuss over her, but she would have been so pleased.
Your mom was on a "hen party" cruise with us several years ago. It was a great time to get to know her even better. I'll always cherish our time together, then and at other times. She was a quiet, sweet, loving aunt who always seemed to accept whatever opinions I wanted to throw her way. She just loved me for who I was, wherever I was in my life journey. She was a lot like our Gramma Wilson. I love that story John Dood told about being in Cincinnati and Gladys putting him up for the night with his mother's embroidered pillowcase. That says it there, she loved to do those little, special things that made life a little nicer for others.
May we all be a little more like your mother, and the world will be that much better!
Love you all, Jane Saxton
