I am so saddened to hear this news, and am grieving for the world's loss of this bright beautiful man.

I feel so blessed to count myself among his friends ~ so many wonderful nights in his North Muskegon home playing cribbage by the fire, never knowing if tonight was the night he would grab the chainsaw and create one more window in the log walls!

Glenn aka Gus,
Wow Glenn, you created such a beautiful resort in Troutman, I wish I could have stayed there forever. Your memorial there was beautiful. The butterfly you sent, had Allan, April,Jamie, Molly, and many others looking at each other and smiling. The many rocks, with our thoughts of love to you were tossed into your pond, and I know in my heart, you read each one. Glenn, I am so sorry. You always knew what to say to make things better. I know nothing I can say will make this better. Everyone will miss you so much. I don't know if you realized how much you meant to your family. You were always there for someone, and your brothers and sisters always looked up to you. Take care of your little niece. Dear Glenn,...Where do I start? It is so true that "life is too short". I was in 'disbelief' the moment I heard. I grieve for you leaving us & the loss your family feels. Inside, I thought of you as a second 'big brother' to me. As I told your dad, my fond 'memories' of the N.C. vacation visiting you is something no one can take away. It made me smile to hear you liked the Spaghetti dinner I whipped up for us during my visit. I was glad Wayne happen to be there to join us at the Nascar truck race too.
I'll miss you, but have peace knowing we will all be together again someday.

Glenn,
Today, 8/10/09, we said goodnight to you at St. Mary's Cemetary. Not good bye..goodnight. Our brother,Wayne, told a beautiful story about going to bed and as all of us kids remember... When you were older, you got to stay up longer, and as Wayne said, it was staying up to say good night to the older sibling. So today, we said good night to you Glenn, goodnight...never good bye. Thank you for being such a big part of our lives, as you will always be.....

I had the privilege of working with Glenn at Odell Nursing, Autumn Care and Lutheran Services for the Aging. I remember his infamous hunting trip when he got shot in the leg. Gus had a zest for life and a caring heart and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time. We are so sorry for your loss...and for our loss. We didn't know Glenn as well as most of you but we did know that he was so full of life and love. It just radiated from him ! Some things just defy reason and only God knows why. God must have needed him for a greater purpose. But he will be very missed here on earth by anyone that knew him even just a little.
