Gloria J. Vanderweele's Obituary
Mrs. Gloria J. Vanderweele, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 5, 2022. She was born on March 10, 1927 in Muskegon to Raymond and Sophie (Carlson) Snyder. Gloria married Glenn Vanderweele on October 2, 1948 and they shared 64 wonderful years before he passed away in 2013. Glenn and Gloria enjoyed traveling, exploring the United States and Europe together. They spent their winters in Arizona, eventually moving down there for 27 years. Gloria was a DeColores participant, and later became an active team member. She always had something nice to say about others and kept a positive attitude her entire life. Gloria will be forever remembered by her children, Jeff Vanderweele, Jim (Debi) Vanderweele, and Mary (Waid) Fox; grandchildren, Heather (Kevin), Elly, Nick (Kara), Erika (Ron), Scott (Nicole), and Gerrad; eight great-grandchildren, Emma, Abigail, Kate, Kaila, Abram, Mazy, Carson, and Cayden; and sister-in-law, Betty Vanderweele. Along with her husband, Gloria was also preceded in death by her son, Glenn D. Vanderweele, and sister, Jackie. A Memorial Service will be held 11:30AM, Saturday, October 22, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 – 11:30AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gloria’s memory may be directed to Muskegon Rescue Mission or Harbor Hospice Foundation.
