I knew Gordy from the Polish Union where I work and grew to love and admire him. He was a gentle and kind soul and will be greatly missed. I was always asking him if he had any good news for me and he'd just shrug and smile (and fill me in). He never once complained and in the midst of his own pain - he still cared about the others around him. His presence was always a blessing!! I prayed that God would bless him and us with many more years but he had a different plan - the world just lost another Angel. I am so very sorry for your loss - may God provide the strength and peace to see you through!!

Everyone who knew Gordie knows about his love for fishing. For me his annual fish fry sums up what a generous person he was. He would spend the whole year doing something he loved, then in September he would invite all his friends and family over to share it with them. I will not eat perch again without a fond memory of him. He was the guy with the answer at our family gatherings, usually he would just pull out his pocket knife. He could open every package and even bottles of wine with that thing! Gordie, I will miss you for your generosity, for your sense of humor and most especially for how much you cared for my mom. We were lucky to have you in our lives. We will miss you.

One of the best times that I had with my grandpa Gordy was out fishing. My grandpa, my wife Ashlie (was only GF at the time) and myself went out on the boat on Muskegon Lake one morning. My grandpa and I were the only ones fishing while Ashlie was getting bored watching us. For those of you who don't know, Gordy used double hooks on his lines. We were only catching one at a time when Ash decided she wanted to try it out. She caught about 25 fish within 10 mins, pulling up two at a time. That's when I knew She was a keeper :) After his recent surgery I told him he needed to get better because he needed to take us out fishing again and his response was that if we take Ashlie and she starts fishing like she did before, he'd throw her over board lol. I'm going to miss his stories and his sense of humor most of all
