Mrs. Grace Eloise Eckman's Obituary
Mrs. Grace Eloise Eckman, age 91, passed away Thursday morning, July 11, 2013. Grace was born February 16, 1922 to John W. and Everdeana (Borgerding) Noor in Muskegon. On May 27, 1950, she married John R. Eckman and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1975. Grace was employed as administrator for NORDCO Drum Co. for 10 years prior to her retirement. Grace was a member of Bethany Church where she was active in Women’s Fellowship Group, the Intermediate Club, Prayer Team, Fellowship Committee and sang in the choir. Grace volunteered in many capacities; with Love, INC., served as treasurer for World Home Bible League for many years; and as a board member and treasurer and with West Shore Community Concerts. Grace will be dearly missed by her children, Laura Ofeno of Norton Shores and Jim (Janet) Eckman of Plymouth, MN; grandchildren, Nicole and Quinn Ofeno, Megan, Shannon and Corey Eckman; brother, Robert (Barbara) Noor of Lexington, NC; sister, Marva Guenther of Portland, OR and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Grace was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Willard “Bill” and John Noor. THE FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Bethany Church, 1105 Terrace St., with Rev. David Sieplinga officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Monday at The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210 and one hour prior to the service (10-11 AM) at the church. Burial will take place in Laketon Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Church or Love, INC.
