Harry "Sonny" F. Anderegg Jr.'s Obituary
Harry F. “Sonny” Anderegg, Jr., age 96, of North Muskegon passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on July 2, 1929, in Muskegon, Michigan, Harry was the son of Harry F. Sr. and Ida Anderegg. A lifelong resident of the area, Harry was known for his ever-present smile, unwavering kindness, jovial personality, and deep devotion to family, faith, and community.
On September 1, 1950, Harry married his high school sweetheart, Marva, beginning a remarkable 74-year journey of love and partnership. Together they built a life rooted in faith, friendship, and family.
Harry enlisted in the U.S. Army and deployed to Germany in 1954, where he served as a pharmacist. He returned home in 1956 to North Muskegon, where he and Marva settled with their son, Rick, born on September 9, 1954.
A man of determination and humility, Harry began working at Holmes Drug Store during high school, which later paid his way through Ferris State College, earning his degree in Pharmacy. His professional career spanned more than 50 years: 14 years at Holmes Drug Store, 15 years at Medical Arts Pharmacy, and 25 years at West Shore (Mercy) Pharmacy. He retired in 1991, leaving behind a legacy of care, dedication, and trust in the community he served.
Harry was beloved not only for his steady presence, but also for his ever-present humor. His quick wit and infectious laughter brought joy to everyone lucky enough to be in his orbit.
He and Marva were lifelong members of the Lutheran Church, where they found both spiritual nourishment and lasting friendships. They were regular members of their church choirs, and Harry also performed for many years with the Muskegon Cosmopolitan Male Singers (COSMOPs) - an experience that brought him great joy and camaraderie.
Harry was a supportive and dedicated father, setting a lasting example of strength, compassion, and quiet guidance. His love and consistency were the foundation of his family, and he showed by example what fatherhood truly means.
Among his greatest joys were his grandchildren, Lauren and Alex, whom he adored. He delighted in every moment with them, indulging their interests and cheering them on with unshakable pride and enthusiasm. He was overjoyed to welcome his great-granddaughter, Maya, into the world on July 12, and cherished the new generation of love she represented.
Harry was predeceased by his parents, Harry F. Sr. and Ida Anderegg; his brother, George “Bud” Anderegg; and his beloved wife, Marva.
He is survived by his son, Rick (Fern); grandchildren, Lauren and Alex (Morgan); great-granddaughter, Maya; and brother, Jack (Dot) Anderegg.
Harry’s life was marked by love, service, music, laughter, and grace. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
