Helen L. Sohasky's Obituary
Helen (Slater) Sohasky, 90, of Muskegon, passed away June 6, 2019 at home surrounded by family. She was born January 13, 1929 in Muskegon/Holton Township and married Frank J. Sohasky on June 24, 1950. Frank preceded her in death 2013. She was a self-employed beautician for many years where they owned a barber/beauty shop in Muskegon Heights. She also was a beautician at two local nursing homes where she enjoyed working with the elderly. Helen enjoyed playing cards with many friends and family and enjoyed the casino. She was a member of St. Michael’s Circle. She is survived by five of her children, Mike (Pam) of Wisconsin, Larry (Lynn) of California, Steve (Kim) of Twin Lake and daughters, Sandy Robbins (Ken) and Susan Deuling (Don) of Muskegon. Her legacy includes sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Helen is preceded in death by her husband, Frank and son, Daniel of Suttons Bay. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Saxton of Pontiac, her daughter-in-law, Laurie Sohasky and her sister-in-law, Marian Slater. Helen was preceded in death by parents, John and Mary Slater, brothers Lawrence, Joseph, Ben, John, Charles, Louis, Leo, Paul, and sisters Monica and Mary and many aunts and uncles. VISITATION: Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 5-7 pm at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441, with the Rosary prayed at 6:30 pm. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Monday, June 10, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Michael’s Church in Muskegon, with visitation one hour prior to the mass.
