Helen T. Hood's Obituary
Helen T. Hood, age 78, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2006, at her home. She was born September 11, 1928 to Peter and Catherine (Schmiz) Hartman in Grand Haven, MI; and she married Robert Jay Hood September 10, 1949, in Grand Haven.
Mrs. Hood was a lifelong resident of Grand Haven and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She volunteered for Hospice of North Ottawa Community for many years. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and displayed a keen interest in antiques, as well as quilting, playing bridge, and gardening. She was also an avid Notre Dame football fan.
Survivors include her husband, Robert; 2 daughters: Laura (Bill) Viening of Parma, OH, and Kristen Benningfield of Seattle, WA; 2 sons: Michael (Jan) Hood of Spring Lake, and Patrick (Chris) Hood of Grand Haven; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Catherine Shelgren of Grand Haven. Mrs. Hood was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
The service for Mrs. Hood will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2006, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Grand Haven with the Rev. William Langlois officiating. Friends may meet the family at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Lakeshore Cemetery in Grand Haven.
