Henni Ann Campbell's Obituary
Henni Ann Campbell, age 78, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024. She was born to John and Ann (Brondsema) Damhoff on January 11, 1946, in Groningen, the Netherlands.
She is survived by her mother, Ann Satter; her children, Jennifer (Jason) Edwards of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Stefanie (Graham) Passey and their sons, Drew Campbell Passey and Gavin James Passey of Danville, California; her sister, Shirley Shuman; sister-in-law, Margaret (Al) Berg; one aunt in Canada; cousin, Rhea Kuchynka of Helena, Montana; and cousins in Spain and the Netherlands. She was preceded in death by her father, her husband, Bruce on July 4, 2014, and two nephews, Christopher Shuman and Greg Shuman, and Jan Kolk, her cousin from the Netherlands.
Henni’s family moved from the Netherlands to Spring Lake in 1955, and she graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1964. Henni married her high school sweetheart, Bruce Campbell on September 9, 1966.
Bruce and Henni lived in Springdale, Arkansas from 1972 -1979 while Bruce served as plant manager at Atco Rubber Company, and both their daughters were born in Arkansas.
For twenty-five years (1986 – 2011) she had the privilege of serving as secretary to the superintendent of Grand Haven Area Public Schools. During that time, she worked for four superintendents and numerous school board members.
Henni served as executive secretary at Challenge Machinery, Bastian-Blessing and Johnston Boiler. She served as secretary to the director of employee relations at Gardner Denver, and held various positions at Security First Bank, and served as a sales coordinator at Tyson Foods in Springdale, Arkansas.
Henni was raised in First Reformed Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served several terms as a deacon and was a member of the Jane Bottje Circle. Henni was also involved in the prayer shawl ministry, a pen pal in the prison ministry, and an office volunteer.
Henni loved Lake Michigan, taking many walks along the waterfront and walking the pier and the beach. She also enjoyed traveling to northern Michigan, especially on family trips to Mackinaw Island and vacations to Beaver Island.
Her grandsons were very dear to her, and she visited them in California whenever possible. She enjoyed gardening, especially composting and growing perennials throughout her large yard.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven, followed by a reception in the lounge. Donations in her name may be given to First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven.
