I worked at Ryke's when it was on Larch, I think, when I was in high school back in the early 60's. Henry and his sister Marie worked there at the time. Henry decorated my high school graduation cake. I have many fond memories of working there and of them. Always got a glass of milk with ice in it when I worked late. I remember that by the time I left I only wanted meat not anything sweet. Their thin butter cookies were the best then and still are. I was in Muskegon in early May and carried four packages of those cookies home on the plane with me. My thoughts and prayers go out to Henry's family.

Thinking of each of you, the impact this is having on you and the memories you have. Praying for you this week.
Hank was a giant of the Christian faith and Berean Church will miss him dearly. His impact in our church family and the community is immeasurable. The dedication of Hank and Ellen, especially for the youth of our area for so many years will yield eternal results for God's glory through His faithful servant.
I remember working for Henry and Ellen they were a delight to work for. One summer we had a nice work party out at one of the co- workers cabin on Twin Lake. I have lots of good memories of the two of them. Rest in peace Henry. God bless your boys as they lay to rest.
What an institution and history. Several years ago my wife called Mr Ryke about how to make Dutch Girl Cookies. He happily gave her the recipe and invited her to call him anytime. I think all of Muskegon thinks of Rykes as a home town memory. Even those of us that have moved far away....it still calls for a pilgrimage to Rykes whenever in town.
