Dick & Don, I was shocked to see your dad's obituary in the Muskegon Chronicle. My folks were friends of your folks many years ago, and I recall visiting your Grandma Ott and playing outdoors with you guys while my mom had coffee with your mom and grandma. I remember the tree in the yard that dropped those large seed pods -- I think it was a catalpa tree, but I had not seen one before. We also visited often with Norm & Gladys Wylie, your dad's sister in Kent City, and played with Norma and her brothers on the farm. My mom like buying eggs and fresh chickens from them, and being a city girl, I loved seeing what life was like on the farm. I have lived in the Chicago area for 40 years, so have been out of touch with Muskegon area people, but retired up in Whitehall 11 years ago. My folks have been gone for many years -- my dad died at only 52 and my mom at 80, so you were fortunate to have your dad around for so many years. It sounds like he was sharp mentally to the very end and that he loved the Lord, so maybe our folks are renewing their friendship in heaven. I am sorry for your loss, but take comfort in knowing that he is in a better place.
