Herbert "Herbie" A. Whelpley III's Obituary
Herbert “Herbie” Arthur Whelpley III, passed into the arms of the Lord unexpectedly Monday morning, April 14, 2008. Herb was born on March 21, 1961 to Herb and Darlene (Mosley) Whelpley. They survive him along with daughter, Amber Whelpley, fiancé Mark Fuller; son, Herbert Austin Whelpley, fiancée Danielle Vandyke; his sister, Doreen (Gerald Evans); grandmother, Jane Beck, nephews, Kyle and Mathew Peterson; niece, Nicole Peterson; and long time friend Judy Johnson. Herb had a very loving, extended family that number over fifty. Herb served in the Air Force and worked at Herman Miller for most of his life. Herb was also a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, where he was a greeter. Herb was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he will be dearly missed by everyone. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be 11 AM Friday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Phillip Sliwinski presiding. VISITATION with the family will be 5-8 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with the Rosary being prayed at 7 PM. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the children’s college fund will be appreciated.
