Horace Richard Gillette's Obituary
Horace R. Gillette, age 90 passed peacefully away at home, Wednesday morning, August 08, 2012 following a long illness. He was born in Muskegon on December 4, 1921 to Homer R. and Johanna (Beard) Gillette. Horace was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and was employed for 25 years as a firefighter with the City of Muskegon Fire Department, he retired in 1977. He married the former Beryl A. Horringa in Muskegon on February 14, 1942 and she preceded him in death in 2007. Mr. Gillette was a faithful member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church where he served as deacon and was a former member of the V.F.W. He is survived by: a daughter, Judy (Richard) Lareva of Muskegon; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Gillette of Norton Shores; 4 grandchildren, Harrison Gillette, Jodi Hozer, Jason Bates & Josie Barker; and 7 great-grandchildren, Aubree, Athena, Ali, Caleb, Skylar, Kelcie & Elliot. He was also preceded in death by his son, Harold Gillette in 1994; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. The funeral service will be held at Laketon Bethel Reformed Church, 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 13, 2012 with Mr. Jan Reahm officiating. He will be laid to rest in Mona View Cemetery.
