Howard H. Peterson's Obituary
Mr. Howard H. Peterson, age 81, died February 16, 2009. He had been a lifetime resident of Muskegon. He was a graduate and 3 sport varsity athlete at Muskegon Junior College and Western Michigan University. He was an Army veteran, having served in the Japanese occupation during 1947. Mr. Peterson had been employed by Anaconda Wire for 28 years prior to his early retirement in 1980. He had held the positions of Purchasing agent, Personnel Manager, Traffic Manager and was Division Purchasing Manager CPM at the time of his retirement. He had been a long time member of the Vikings, Elks, and Moose Lodges, and was a Golden Eagle. Mr. Peterson was a lifetime member of the Muskegon Transportation Club and the Purchasing Management Association of West Michigan. He was a past Director of Goodwill Industries and had worked many years with United Appeal, including terms on the Allocation Committee. Mr. Peterson was a past President of the Muskegon “M” Club. He was an often published writer and photographer and had won many awards. His photographs had been accepted in several accredited museums and are included in many commercial and private collections. Howard is SURVIVED by his wife Dorothy, 3 children, Mark (Lisa) Peterson of FL., Diane Peterson (Husband Mike) of Boston, Eric (Antonietta)Peterson of FL., 4 step children, Robert “Frosty” (Peggy) Tazelaar, Karl Tazelaar, Charles (Mikalee) Tazelaar, Donald (Paula) Tazelaar all of Muskegon, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 1 sister Sally Gillette of FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marie (Hollenbeck) Peterson, 1 daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Tazelaar.
