Irene Ruiter's Obituary
Mrs. Irene Ruiter, age 88, of Grand Haven passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019. She was born December 15, 1930 in Grand Haven to Rudolph and Mary (Volovlek) Resner. On March 3, 1955 she married Bernard “Bud” Ruiter and he preceded her in death on December 26, 2016.
Irene was a member of St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. For many years she enjoyed dancing, traveling, going to garage sales, crocheting, watching the Detroit Tigers and her daily walks around Grand Haven and wintering in Floral City, Florida with Bud. She will be greatly missed by her loving family.
Irene is survived by three daughters: Lori (Garry) Speer of Grand Haven, Beth Ruiter of Grand Haven and Sue (Larry Hicks) Olsen of Spring Lake; three grandchildren: Kristin Speer, Tim Olsen, and Stacy Olsen; sister, Alice (Jacob) Bos; many in-laws from the Ruiter Family; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Michaline and Jane; sister, Mary (Stanley) Skruch.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 10, 2019 at St. Patrick – St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Charles Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at The VanZantwick Chapel (620 Washington Ave.) with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery.
