Irene Olea (Carlson) Stolt's Obituary
Irene Mullennix (Carlson) Stolt passed into the waiting arms of God, Monday, April 18, 2011. She was born in Fremont, MI to Ray and Edith (Dake) Mullineaux on June 19, 1919. Her family used “Mullennix” as the family name. To her four siblings, Wesley, Harold, Laura and Frances she was “baby sister”. Irene married Glenn Bailey in 1934. They had two children, Julia LaRaine (Thomas D. George) who survives and Janice Jill (John Pershing) who preceded her in death. Irene married Donald J. Carlson in 1955. He died in 1989. In 1996 she married Frank G. “Bud” Stolt, her truest friend and dearest companion until his death in 2008. Beloved daughter Janice died in 1985. Her children survive and reside in Texas. They are Joseph (Sonia) Marlow, Irene (Bill) Hannum, William (Candy) Marlow, Diane Sanders and Katie Moore. Also surviving in Muskegon are the children of Julie and Tom. They are LaRaine (Terry) Kiel, Kathryn (Jeff) Harris, Melissa Wallstead and Benjamin George. She was blessed with twenty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Two sweet great-grandbabies preceded her death, Richard Harris (son of granddaughter Irene) and Jonathan Stariha (son of granddaughter LaRaine). Her beauty, fun-loving spirit, wise counsel, deep faith in God and ever open arms to embrace and welcome all into her family-- without exception-- were part of her feisty personality her whole life. “Jitterbug” was cared for by her special “angels” at Christian Care Nursing Home. Her little room was her “last home” and she came to look upon the staff and residents as family. Everyone welcomed Jo-Jo, her cherished little dog, who often visited. It was comforting to know very special friends Flo and Duane, Phyllis and Marilyn often stopped by to chat. We thanked God each day for the patient and loving concern of this wonderful staff for the health and happiness of our mother and grandmother. She never lost an earring that they did not find…and, oh, her beautiful hair and nails! With deep gratitude, memorial contributions may be directed to The Christian Care Nursing Home Building Fund. A SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE will be held on May 7, 2011 at Temple United Methodist Church, 2500 Jefferson Street at 10:00 AM, Pastor Rob Cook officiating.
