Iris L. Harper's Obituary
Iris Lane Harper, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away, December 11, 2020. She was born August 26, 1928 in Mannington, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Ira and Margaret Satterfield. She graduated from Mannington High School and went on to receive her RN degree from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Clarksburg, WV. She married James Lewis Harper on September 8, 1951. Their union brought them to Flint, Michigan where Iris worked as a pediatric nurse at Hurley hospital. Iris joined the practice of Dr. Cory Cookingham, where she worked for over 20 years. In 1992 she began working for Dr. Suresh Anne in his allergy practice, where she worked into her late 70s. She truly had a love for children and people in general. Iris never met a stranger, she always had a kind word and a smile for all. If you knew her you truly loved her because she conveyed such kindness in all she did. She is survived by her Daughter, Jane (Mark) Pennington of Spring Lake, Michigan and son Mark Harper of Flint, Michigan. She leaves behind her most precious grandchildren: Jennings D. Harper, Rachel Lane Pennington, Allison Jane Pennington and Ethan R. Pennington, nieces and nephews, Mary Jane (Yancy) Gore, Frank (Shannon) Lukez, Margy (Paul) Rohart, Christina Lukez, Beth (Joel) Bartis, Christina Reaser Dunigan, Skip Reaser, Chip Reaser, Johnny Reaser, Jeff Reaser and many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Harper, her oldest son, Michael Gordon Harper, her beloved identical twin, Inez Jane Lukez, and brother-in-law, Frank A. Lukez. Her parents Ira and Margaret Satterfield and her sisters Merle Hayes and Mable Carroll.
Due to gathering restrictions concerning COVID-19 a small visitation will be held Sunday, December 20, 2020 with interment Monday, December 21, 1:00 p.m. at Crestwood Cemetery in Grand Blanc Michigan.
