Jackie Loy "Jack" Garvey's Obituary
Mr. Jackie Loy “Jack” Garvey, age 69, went home to be with his Lord on January 10, 2010. Jack was born the youngest of thirteen children to Harley and Reeta (McClain) Garvey in Muskegon on December 22, 1940. He married Vivian A. Aamodt in Muskegon at St. Thomas Catholic Church on October 17, 1959 and together they raised three children. Jack was founder and owner of Garvey Dental Lab, Inc. where he enjoyed over 45 years of making dentures and crowns. Jack was a spiritual man following the teachings of Jesus Christ and leading others to the Lord. Jack was a 35 year member of St. Jean’s Catholic Church, current member at Our Lady of Grace and attended St. Thomas Catholic Church. Jack served as a Eucharist Minister and was active in deColores, Cursillo, Veritas, and prison ministries. He gave generously throughout his life, making dentures for missions both here and abroad. Jack enjoyed auto racing, antique cars and spending time with his family. He is survived by: wife, Vivian; two daughters, Kelly A. Garvey Heiss of Muskegon and Kirsten A. (Andrew) Gibbs of Twin Lake; three brothers, Cecil (Lana) Garvey of Muskegon, Alan (Shirley) Garvey of Whitehall and Bill Garvey of Muskegon; sister, Judy Ferris of Muskegon and grandchildren, Joshua, Elijah, Miranda, Zebadiah, Elaine, Caleb, Isaac, Ava and special friend Michael. He was, preceded in death by: beloved son, Erik in 2001; mother, Reeta; father, Harley; stepfather, Elmer; brothers, Floyd, August, Harley, Bobbie and Guy; sisters, Florence, Francis and Betty. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 11:00 A.M., Friday, Fr. Michael Olson presiding. Visitation will be at:
