Jack W. Boyer's Obituary
Mr. Jack W. Boyer, age 75, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at the Leila & Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. He was born December 5, 1935 in Muskegon to Frank and Flossie Boyer.
Jack graduated from Michigan State University with a Masters Degree in science and worked as a teacher at Grand Haven High School for 35 years before his retirement. He enjoyed nature, especially hunting and fishing. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven and was a former church elder. He filmed all of the basketball and football games for Grand Haven High School and also served as editor of the yearbook. Jack also served as a Boy Scout leader when his boys were young. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family.
On September 21, 1957 he married the former Darlene Kiel in Angola, Indiana, and she survives him along with 4 children: Mike (Leandrea) Boyer of Lake Orion, MI, Brian (Sandra) Boyer of Walker, Debbie (Jeff) Ott of Spring Lake, Linda (Jeff) Skinner of Grand Haven; 10 grandchildren: Micah and Mac Boyer, Casey, Zach and Nate Boyer, Johannah, Jacson and Jamerson Ott, Nicholas and Jessica Skinner. He is also survived by 1 brother, Frank (Billie) Boyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Flossie Boyer.
Funeral Services for Jack will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 3, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Dr. Thomas Cook officiating. Visitation will be held 6-8 PM Friday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven and also 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment will take place in Historic Cemetery. Memorial contributions in honor of Jack may be given to Harbor Hospice or The Alzheimer’s Association – Dementia Help Center.
