Mr. James Stead's Obituary
Mr. James Stead, age 84, passed away Tuesday evening, March 10, 2015 in Whitehall, MI. James was born August 28, 1930 in Bay City, MI to the late James Jonathan and Irma (Wilson) Stead Sr. James married the former Idamae Stokes in Lansing, MI on June 16, 1951, and she preceded him in death on August 5, 2014. James lived most of his years in the Muskegon area, working as a machinist and salesman for Muskegon Tool Industries for 37 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. James is survived by his children; Susan Kaye Stead, Karen (William) Burkett, Philip (Kathi) Stead, and daughter-in-law, Brenda Stead, all of Muskegon; 5 grandchildren; Amy (Matt) Johnson, Lori (Lance) Gosselin, Michael (Kate) Galarneau, Kara (Cody) VanDyke, Leonard Stead II; 9 great grandchildren; and one sister; Mary (Carl) Greibe; preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Wilma (Rauol) Gagner, Laura (Leroy) McCaulley, Beulah (Ray) Johnson, Belva (Dan) Gresier, Doris (Orrin) Snider, Hazel (Aubrey) Bissonette, Kenneth (Karidad) Stead, Erma (Gerald) Snyder. In addition to his wife Idamae, James was also preceded in death by his son Leonard in 2009; and an infant sister, Ruth Ann. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11 AM Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 798-1100 with Rev. Curtis Freed officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service (10-11AM). MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to Mercy VNS & Hospice. James will be laid to rest in Ferry Township Cemetery.
