James R. "Jim" Doe's Obituary
Mr. James R. “Jim” Doe, age 74, passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2009 in Muskegon. He was born in St. Paul, MN to Edward and Hazel (Hamilton) Doe, and resided most of his life in this area. Jim was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, and spent many years traveling with Builders for Christ. He also belonged to the Men’s Auxiliary of VFW #446. Jim worked for Teledyne Continental Motors and then General Dynamics as a Mechanical Engineer for 40 years, retiring in 1997. He loved spending time hunting, fishing and bowling. On March 26, 1958 he married the former Mary Ellen Neis, and together they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Survivors also include son, David (Karen) Doe of La Crosse, WI and their daughters, Erica and Samantha; and daughter, Barbara (Scott) Hansen of Ada, MI and their son, Chad; as well as brother, Robert E. (Audrey) Doe of White Pigeon, MI. MEMORIAL SERVICES will be 11 AM Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church (2651 E. Shettler Rd.) with Pastor Timothy Winkle officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 7-9 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Grace Lutheran Church or Builders for Christ will be appreciated.
