My condolences to Jan's family. Jan was a good friend in High School, class of 66. Lot's of stories from those high school years.
The summer after we graduated, Ron Rosso, Jan, and I took a trip to California. We had planned on taking my 1957 Ford. A few weeks before we were to leave Don Rosso called me over to his Olds, Buick, Pontiac dealership and asked if I thought the Ford would be able to make the trip. I said sure. He replied that he had a brand new 1966 Pontiac Bonneville he needed delivered to Oxnard, CA and would we be willing to drive it out for delivery. Kind of jumped at the chance at the opportunity to travel in the luxury of a brand new car, with air conditioning! It was quite a trip and all three of us experienced a lot.
Jan and I were both in Vietnam at the same time, I learned he was at a base in Quy Nhon. I managed to get a telephone call through to him and we chatted for a bit. We had lost track of each other over the years.
Before leaving California, Jan borrowed some money from me for the trip back to Michigan. I had forgotten about it and at a class reunion, Jan gave me the money back, with interest.
Rest in peace Jan!
