Cakes. That is how I met Jan many years ago. She was always making special cakes for her grandkids. Because a bakery cake, as everyone knows, was not good enough for her kids!

Your mom will always be remembered as a special friend. The many memories I have include family times on Henry Street with smiles and laughter. All the J's present (Jim, Jan, Jimmy, Julie, Jill and Jeff), except for the German Shepard, Shane. I always wondered why his name didn't start with a J.
I wandered through that door one day as a friend of Jimmy's and wound up with a lifelong friend in your mom. Your mom will be missed. Her smiles will be felt for years to come.

Hey "Nebbit": Your friendship came to me in the form of a freshly baked batch of muffins, left anonomously on my back porch. You were there to support my new business venture even before my own mother got on board. You were a listening ear, always a smile to share, and you always had a loaf of bread in the oven for someone! You were there for me as I raised my little ones just up the street. And I watched you and hugged you as you grieved over the loss of your Jimmy. I watched again as you said goodbye to your husband. And I grieved with you when you lost your Jeff suddenly. We had some great laughs, and we've cried many tears. But that is what friends are for. I am sorry that I have not been there for you as often as I wanted to be. I am sorry that we were not able to chat the last couple times I came to see you. But you have been the best friend ever, and my heart aches at our loss. But while aching, the other part of me rejoices because I know that you are WHOLE once again, in body and mind...AND you are reunited with your Jimmy and Jim and Jeff...even Luke & Bear!! When I get to heaven someday, I will follow my nose to the smell of BAKING BREAD, and there I will find you, and we will rejoice togehter.
I miss you already. Please know that I love you dearly!

And to all the grandkids - you guys should each know that your Grandma loved you to the moon and back! You were the light of her world! You were all she ever talked about!

So sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. She was my friend for many years and it will not be the same without her. When I think of her, I think of all the good memories of our families when we all were much younger. She will be greatly missed. Take care.
