Janice Renee Gilbert's Obituary
Janice Renee Gilbert, age 53, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 31, 2015, following a long 17 year battle with cancer. She was born March 22, 1961 in Muskegon to Glen and Jillena (Hanson) Wilson. Janice was employed as a Billing Specialist at Hackley Hospital for over 20 years until her illness prevented her from continuing. Janice was an avid reader and enjoyed scrapbooking and bicycling, but first and foremost was her time spent with family, especially her grandbabies. On September 6, 1980, she married Richard P. Gilbert in Muskegon. He survives her along with their children: Jamie (Michael) Dodge, Kristin (Joshua Potter) Gilbert, Jordan Gilbert and Kaleb Gilbert; her mother, Jillena E. Wilson; 4 grandchildren, Emma Gilbert, Michael, Isabel and Maddison Dodge; 4 brothers, Kenneth W. Wilson, Kevin M. (Terry) Wilson, Keith P. Wilson and Jeremy N. Wilson; 1 sister, Karen (Gerry) VanOeffelen. She was preceded in death by her father, Glen Wilson and father-in-law, Donald C. Gilbert. Janice was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, 4475 Henry St., Norton Shores 49441 where the FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2015, with Rev. Mark Gilson officiating. VISITATION will be Wednesday 5-8 p.m. at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, (231) 798-1100. She will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the Gilbert family.
