Jan L. (French) Rathbun's Obituary
Mrs. Jan L. (French) Rathbun, age 59, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at her home. She was born June 2, 1951 in Muskegon to Leon and Audrey (McClain) French and lived in the area most of her life. On June 13, 1970, she married Michael J. Rathbun in Muskegon and he survives her. Jan had worked as a seamstress for 12 years at Knoll Group. She enjoyed reading, inner tubing down rivers, and in her younger years played softball and volleyball. She also crocheted hats for terminal cancer patients in Muskegon. Along with her husband, Michael, she is survived by 2 children, Andrea (Chris) Murray of Columbus, IN, Paul (Sonya) Rathbun of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Sarah Parker, Ashlee Murray, Alex Murray and Chase Rathbun; her mother, Audrey (Sid) Henderson; and her brother, Randy French. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold French and her grandparents, Roy & Sula French, and Willis & Barbara McClain. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Central Assembly of God (896 Home St.) with Pastor Curtis McClain officiating. VISITATION with Jan’s family will be 5-8 PM Friday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service, 12-1 PM Saturday at the church. INTERMENT will take place at Fruitport Cemetery.
