Jean L. Sibley's Obituary
Jean Sibley, age 85, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on Friday, June 27, 2025. Jean was born in Muskegon on March 9, 1940, to Willis and Ruth (Glover) Cartwright. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School and went on to receive her associates degree from Muskegon Community College. She worked as a payroll supervisor at CWC Textron for 40 years before retiring in 2002. She was a hard worker and was well respected by all her colleagues. In July of 1956 she married Kenneth “Sonny” Sibley, and the two of them spent 65 wonderful years building a family together until he preceded her in death in 2022.
Jean loved to travel with her husband, and together they explored all over the United States and even visited Brazil, Ireland, and other European countries. She was a very social person, and one of her favorite activities was shopping with friends and family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, always supportive of her children’s and grandchildren’s extracurricular activities. She was a remarkable woman who loved her family and made sure to teach them what was right and wrong, encouraging them to always do the right thing.
Jean will be lovingly remembered by her three children: Pam (Gary) Johnson, Ruth Ann Winicki, and Ken Sibley; five grandchildren: Katie (Josh) Sandberg, Gavin Johnson, Chelsie (Connor) Armstrong, Bradley "Bubba" Winicki, and Seth (Megan) Winicki; four great-grandchildren: Ava, Kennedy, Penelope, and Violet Sandberg; and sister, Nancy (Herb) Sibley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sister, Judy (Jim) Baker.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held for Jean at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444. VISITATION will be held from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, July 7, 2025, as well as an hour prior to the funeral.
