Jean Georgianna Dobberstein's Obituary
Mrs. Jean Georgianna Dobberstein, age 78, died Sunday morning, October 1, 2006. She was born October 3, 1927 in Muskegon to Floyd and Hattie (Ritsema) Card, and had been a life resident. In 1945, she graduated from Muskegon High School. Jean was a bookkeeper for Hackley Bank for several years, and then became a homemaker, raising her family. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess, belonged to the Ladies Bible Study, was a prayer warrior, and volunteered for AWANA. She also volunteered at the Muskegon Rescue Mission. Jean enjoyed knitting and quilting, making newborn hats, and ornaments for the family. She also loved to read. On June 5, 1948, she married Gerald “Jerry” Dobberstein in Muskegon and he survives her along with 3 sons, Daniel (Joann) Dobberstein of Saginaw, Marc (Cheryl) Dobberstein of Fruitport, Larry (Rhonda) Dobberstein of South Haven; 6 grandchildren, Jason, Ryan, Jeremy, Erik, Jordan, and Brianna. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Harold Card. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565.
