Jeanne M. Fortino's Obituary
Jeanne M. Fortino, age 95, of Grand Haven passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Grand Pines in Grand Haven. She was born June 17, 1916, in Wellington, IL, to Murray and Grace (Schofield) Merritt. She married George J. Grimes, and he preceded her in death in September of 1963. Jeanne married Michael J. Fortino on May 8, 1968 in Grand Haven and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2006.
Jeanne was employed at Bastian Blessing as a secretary for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Haven, attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, was an avid Bridge player, an accomplished piano player, enjoyed golf, and loved traveling and spending winters in Florida with her husband Mike Fortino.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Gaye (Dick) Scheffers of DeTour Village, MI, Debbie (David) Snyder of Petoskey, MI, Martha Meagher of Washington, MI, Mary Ellen (Ken) Jackson of Grand Haven, and Betsy (Mark) Kleist of Grand Haven; sons: Jack Grimes of Grand Haven, Mike (Kelly) Fortino of Milwaukee, WI, Pat (MaryAnn) Fortino of Spring Lake, and Terry (Lynn) Fortino of Medford, New Jersey; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Grimes of Phoenix, AZ; 23 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, George J. Grimes and Michael J. Fortino; 2 sons, Bill Grimes and Tom Grimes; sister, Muriel Roulston, and son-in-law, Tom Meagher.
A Private Service for Jeanne will be held. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of North Ottawa Community. Share memories with the family at their online guest book at www.vbkfuneralhome.com.
