Jeanne Smith Vollmer's Obituary
Jeanne Smith Vollmer, age 93, of Spring Lake, formerly of Holland and Robinson Township, passed away Friday, January 12, 2007, at a local hospital. She was born in Ontario, Canada to Pierre and Otalie (DesChamps) Chauvin, and she married Joseph R. Smith in 1935 in Canada. He preceded her in death in 1972, and she married Ludwig Vollmer on September 11, 1976 in Holland. He also preceded her in death on September 26, 1988.
Jeanne was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake where she was a member of the Altar Society. She also taught religious education for 21 years.
Survivors include 7 step-children; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; 2 nephews; and 3 nieces.
The service for Jeanne will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake with Rev. Leonard Sudlik as celebrant. Friends may meet the family 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 14, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven with a Scripture Service at 7:45 p.m., and one hour prior to the service beginning at 12 noon on Monday at church. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorials to Hospice of North Ottawa Community, http://www.noch.org/hospice.html, are appreciated.
