In loving memory of our sister Jill, we the members of the Alms and Hickey families send this message, along with these summer flowers that will be at your memorial service tomorrow, Saturday August 27th, 2022.
Although we could not be with you when you passed away, you were in our thoughts and prayers. Our memories of you will never fade, for as long as we live, as you were a loving and caring sister .... and friend ... to all of us over the 70 plus years that we were with you.
We each have special stories that were shared with each other at a small family gathering last week in Grand Haven. You never let us down and you were a champion of strength that helped to hold our family together, by hosting holiday dinners with the legion of family members, as well as special gifts that you gave to each of us, often crafted by your own hands. We saw … and know the love and caring you showered on your immediate family ..... always putting them ahead of yourself and also saw how your friends and co-workers cherished your friendship, caring and tireless work ethic as well.
The hole you leave in our hearts with your passing is unfillable, but we will all try to continue to live up to your example of how you treated everyone around you, so we bid you goodbye and a well-deserved rest dearest sister. We know you are now surrounded and enfolded by your heavenly family, which gives us peace.
Jill was a lovely woman, who I enjoyed chatting with at the Bookman. She will be missed!
She was a gem!
Jill was a caring and wonderful adult in my childhood and teenage years. A neighbor and friend of the family she always took great care in helping me pick a new book to devour. She would always talk me into reading something out of my normal and encourage me to learn and help others learn through reading. Jill was also a caring seamstress and altered my wedding dress to fit perfectly as well as many of my sisters and friends dresses as well. I will remember her as the loving kind woman she was to me!
