Jim L. Wilson's Obituary
Jim L. Wilson, age 59, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Despite him being self-identified as “Just Jim”, he was truly somebody to everybody. Friends may remember him as Wilson, TJ, or Juan, but the nickname that honored him the most, was Jimbo.
Jim was born May 13, 1964, in Sturgis to Dwayne and Judith (Mireley) Wilson. He was raised in Orland, Indiana and attended Prairie Heights High School. He was well known in that small community. On December 28, 2014, he married his treasured wife, Toni Wilson. Jim had many hobbies and ways in which he enjoyed life. While he enjoyed golfing and boating with Toni by his side, he also treasured a plethora of other activities. He loved riding dirt bikes with his son, Wade, so much so that they looked forward to their annual dirt bike and kayak trip every summer. Jim also relished in traveling; specifically, to Florida for surf-fishing with Wade and to Mexico. As a life-long engineer and tinkerer, he especially enjoyed modifying his Corvette, working in his garage and building special home construction projects. However, his main source of joy in life, was spending time with his beloved family. He worked for Kennametal for 25 years and will be greatly missed. Jim is now, truly, “Living the Dream”.
He is survived by his wife, Toni; two children: Wade Wilson and Brittney (Andrew) Laurent; parents, Dwayne and Judith Wilson; Sister, Jennifer (Jeff) Sonner; Grandmother Mary Louise Phenning, Grandmother Martha Wilson and Mother-in-law, Carol Bommer. In keeping with his wishes there will be no public service, but a celebration of life at a later date will be planned. Memorial contribution(s) in memory of Jim may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project..
The Family is being served by The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave, Grand Haven, MI 49417.
