Ms. JoAnn Lee Ensign's Obituary
Ms. JoAnn L. Ensign, age 75, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at her home in Norton Shores. She was born February 7, 1941 to Joseph and Margaret (Galy) Schurino. JoAnn lived in California, Texas, and Arkansas before returning to Michigan where she retired from the State of Michigan after many years of working as a housekeeper at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. JoAnn had a big heart and loved to help others. She spent many hours volunteering at the Salvation Army and the Harbor Hospice Poppen Residence. She was an active member of the Maycroft Square Tappers, 4-H, and the Girl Scouts. Most of all, JoAnn loved her time with her family and many friends, sitting outside on her front porch sharing laughs. She was a very dedicated mom, grandmother, and a friend to many. SURVIVORS include her former husband, Arthur Ensign; children, Jodi (Tomas) Salquero, Michelle Schultz, Shana (Sam) Ouf, Ron (Susan) Colby; brothers, Thomas (Jane) Schurino, Michael (Rita) Schurino; grandchildren, Rogena Ensign, Cierra Ensign, Serena Schultz, Heath Schultz, Elena Colby, and Anna Colby. She was preceded in death by her parents. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 2929 McCracken St., Norton Shores with Rev. Fr. James Vanderlaan presiding. VISITATION will be held from 5-8 PM on Monday, July 18, 2016, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100.
