Joanne M. Carlson's Obituary
Joanne Marie Carlson, age 63, passed away on Friday morning, October 17, 2025. She was born September 10, 1962, in Muskegon, MI, to Jerry and Theresa (Sibley) Carlson. Joanne earned her Associate’s degree and Registered Health Information Technician certification from Davenport University. She dedicated 25 years of her career to Holland Hospital and later spent two years as a medical coder at Corewell Health. Joanne attended Port City Church and was also a former member of the Well Armed Women organization. She had a deep love for animals and was rarely without a beloved cat or dog by her side. Joanne found joy in crafting, camping, and embracing new adventures. Her warm spirit and zest for life touched everyone who knew her—she will be deeply missed. Joanne is survived by her brother, Russell Carlson and sister, Susan (Terry) Hall; two nephews: Morgan (Abby) Hall and Matthew (Riana Dawson) Hall; great-niece, Sutton Hall; and a great-nephew, Theo Hall. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Celebration Gathering for Joanne will be held from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 (231) 759-8565. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorials to the Noah Project or the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
