Our condolences to Paul and family on John’s passing.
Living across from Paul on Middle Lake, my brother Bob spent a lot of time together with Paul (“PJ”). As to John’s art skills, he was good! One winter day, my dad was working on his snowmobile and decided to give it a test ride across the ice. The ice was a little thin, which I knew because Kris Thorsen and I were on the ice skating at the time. As my dad took off across the front of the house his snowmobile broke through the ice and settled into chest-deep water. Thankfully no one was hurt except for my dad’s pride. The snowmobile was dragged out, dried out and ran for many more years. Shortly thereafter, a humorous, hand-drawn caricature picture was presented to my dad that John created of what he envisioned the scene to have looked like that day. We made several copies of it to always remember the event and still have them to this day!
