Dear John Holland Family, I am unable to attend the Saturday "share a memory" time, so I just wanted to let you all know how much John meant to me. He was my boss at the Grand Haven Tribune when I began my career there in the '60s. He was fiercely committed to his "girls" making sure that we were taken care of. He was a dear friend and mentor. He was a family man through and through, always asking about our families and "bragging" on his kids whom he loved very much. When I complained of the flu-like symptoms (5 times) he always knew I was pregnant!!! He did have one nasty habit, chewing on that darn cigar. We finally convinced him that it was making us all sick....( ha ha...) but he did eventually give it up!!! John was one of the reasons that the Tribune was really my extended family. He lived a long life and I am blessed to have known him. My sincere condolences to his family. With my love, Patti Burdick
Tim and Dawn, you are in my thoughts and prayers. Hold your fondest thoughts of your dad tight and he will continue to live on in you. May he Rest in Peace.
Gaila, and Family, so sorry to hear about your Dad. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. XOX Peggy DeGram Barnett
