Mr. John Frances Ruberto's Obituary
Mr. John Frances Ruberto, age 67, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014 in Muskegon. He was born in Middletown, CT on September 28, 1946 to Alfred Concetto and Rose Marie (Gionfriddo) Ruberto and moved to Muskegon in 1983. John was a veteran of the United States Army and served two tours in Vietnam. He earned his doctorate degree in Naturopathic Medicine and had most recently been the director of Blue Heron Academy; and was a former owner of the Tohado House. John started studying martial arts at the age of 7 and had over 60 years of training and teaching. He was a Supreme Grand Master and held a 10th degree dan black belt. He developed and taught his own style of Tai Chi that was approved by the United States Martial Arts Association and he was inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame. John was a member of Bridge Bible Church. On December 28, 1984, John married the former Marie A. LoPresti in Muskegon and she survives him along with three children, Michaeleen Jon Ruberto, Rich (Teri) Gray and Virginia (Justin) Brady; 5 grandchildren, Nicholas, Mikayla, Emily Rose, Fallon and Layne; two nieces, Lisa Marie Wilson-Ruberto and Tobi Salza and one nephew, Salvatore Ruberto, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Salvatore Ruberto, Sr. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Bridge Bible Church with Rev. Eric Strattan officiating. MEMORIALS to the Disabled American Veterans would be appreciated.
