John A. Olson's Obituary
Mr. John A. Olson, age 95, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009. He was born July 1, 1913 in Muskegon to Ernest and Anna (Swanson) Olson and has lived in the area all of his life. Mr. Olson worked for Northern Machine Company for many years retiring in 1979. He was a Boy Scout leader, and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was a former member of the Sr. Men’s Hockey League, enjoyed snow ski jumping, loved watching the Red Wings and Tigers, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his daily trips to the Lake Michigan shoreline. He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ. On March 7, 1942, he married Jean Marie Pett in Butternut, MI and she survives him along with 4 children, Chuck (Sue) Olson of Grand Rapids, Bob (Sandi) Olson of Grand Rapids, Karen (Charlie) Braman of Crystal, MI and Tom (Frieda) Olson of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Milton and George Olson, and 1 sister, Helen Fox. SERVICES will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, June 1, 2009 at First Congregational United Church of Christ with Pastor Timothy D. VanderHaar officiating. Visitation with the family will be 3-6 PM Sunday at
