John L. Gomez's Obituary
Mr. John L. Gomez, age 83, died Wednesday evening, January 14, 2004 in Muskegon. He was born October 18, 1920 in Comja De Corona, Jalisco, Mexico to Ineocencio and Martha (Garcia) Gomez and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry having served during WWII and was a member of the VFW #7729. He worked for 38 years at the Lakey Foundry and later for CWC-Textron. He married the former Donna M. VandenBosch in Muskegon on June 19, 1943. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. SURVIVORS include his wife of 60 years, Donna; 8 children, Caroline (Karl) DeLong, Richard Gomez, Lee (Shirley) Gomez, Juanita (Martin) Gallegos, Sharon (Jack) Bourne, David Gomez, Gary Gomez, John C. (Judy) Gomez; 26 grandchildren; 6 brothers and 5 sisters. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 9:00 AM Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210, with the Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding.
