John R. Farkas' Obituary
Mr. John R. Farkas, age 82, passed away Friday, April 4, 2008 at his home. He was born September 8, 1925 in Muskegon Heights to Steven and Julia (Szucs) Farkas. He married the former Dolores L. “Dee” Wachsmuth in Muskegon on July 14, 1951. She preceded him in death December 31, 2006. Following graduation from Muskegon Heights High School, John served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He then joined the Muskegon Heights Police Department, where he retired as a Lieutenant after 30 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Police and the Muskegon Pistol and Rifle Club. John was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. SURVIVORS include: 2 daughters, Jill R. (Scott Majetich) Farkas of Fort Defiance, AZ and Judy R. (John) Dragone of North Muskegon; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; 1 brother, James Farkas of New Era, MI. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. A MEMORIAL GATHERING will be held Tuesday, 2 to 5 p.m. at V.F.W. Post 446, 165 S.
