John W. "Bill" Dolislager's Obituary
Mr. John W. “Bill” Dolislager, age 83, passed away early Thursday morning, March 10, 2011 in Grand Rapids. He was born January 19, 1928 in Muskegon, and was a life resident. John worked as a journeyman printer for the Muskegon Chronicle for 30 years, retiring in 1992, and was a former member of the Printer’s Union. He was a member of First Christian Reformed Church, where he served as both an elder and deacon, and also served as a deacon at the former Immanuel Christian Reformed Church. John was involved with the Reach Out Bible Ministry at First Church, and also helped on the Messenger Newsletter. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and traveling. On October 18, 1950 John married Margaret Anna Vandenberg, and she survives him along with 6 children, Leon J. (Neila) Dolislager of Fair Oak, CA, James W. (Carla) Dolislager of Rocklin, CA, Wayne A. (Marilee) Dolislager of Norton Shores, Arla J. Dolislager of Kentwood, Joel D. (Ruth) Dolislager of Muskegon, Douglas D. (Sharon) Dolislager of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren, Sara (Aaron) Vandenberg and their children Austin and Brett; Michael, Megan, Mark, Joshua, Melissa, Marcos, Sheila, Lucas, and Christine Dolislager; 1 sister, Betty Workman of Muskegon; several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by 1 grandchild, Lisa Dolislager; 2 brothers, John William and Gary Dolislager; 2 sisters, Johanna Gertrude Dolislager and Gertrude Johanna Fogg. SERVICES will be held at 10:30am Tuesday, March 15, at the First Christian Reformed Church, with Rev. Ecko DeVries officiating. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 will be from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Monday.
