Jose "Joe" Gutierrez's Obituary
Jose “Joe” Gutierrez, age 75, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 26, 2019. He was born on March 5, 1944 to David and Cruz (Vallejo) Gutierrez in St. Louis, MI. Joe was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for over 40 years. He served his country in the US Army during Vietnam. Joe retired from the Norton Shores Police Department after 31 years of service. He went on to work security for Mona Shores High School for 10 years and also worked security for the Cinema Carousel. He enjoyed working on a cars, weight lifting and spending time with family. In retirement, he also enjoyed attending Elvis concerts and going to the casino. SURVIVORS include fiancé, Donna; children, Anthony (Laura) Gutierrez, Elvita (Mike) Lewandowski and Amie Sterling; grandchildren, Ryker, Jase, Cody, Lance, Molly, Elise, Elexis, Bret, Jordan and Justin; siblings, David (Sandy) Gutierrez, Virginia (Reggie) Pratt, Dora (Tom) Wilson; Susie (George) Gutierrez and several nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents; son, Jose Gutierrez; daughter, Nicole Gutierrez and brother, Willie Gutierrez. A FUNERAL SERVICE with Military Rites will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100 with Pastor John Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 5PM - 7PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. MEMORIALS can be donated to the Charles D.
