Joseph D. Mish, age 97, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 11, 2024. He was born on March 11, 1927, to Joseph and Theresa (Kruszka) Mish. Joe was life-long resident of Muskegon, Michigan and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Joe married the love of his life, Elsie M. Facchini on April 3, 1948, and was thankful for his 71 years of marriage to her. Joe spent the majority of his career working at Westran as a Foreman in the shipping department and later was employed by and retired from the S.D. Warren paper mill.
In his spare time, Joe enjoyed music and singing and was a member of both St. Michael’s choir and of the Muskegon Cosmops. He always whistled, sang or hummed as he worked and did so until his last days. Joe proudly served his country in the Navy as a Seaman First Class during World War II. Afterwards he continued his love of sailing and was a member of the Muskegon Yacht Club. Joe loved a good joke and shared them often with his friends at the Polish Falcons. Additionally, he enjoyed golfing, reading, crossword puzzles and bird watching. He was an ardent supporter of Notre Dame football, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Boys Town.
