I grew up with Joe Stalzer. When my dad bought a humble cottage on Lake Michigan, Joe's father helped him keep the ancient property going. Joe often came along; sometimes he helped his dad and sometimes he played with my brother and me. Eventually Joe took over responsibility for the cottage's well-being for my dad and then for us. Joe could and did fix any problem there, knowing its eccentricities better than we ever could. What a beautiful human being, a man of deep faith and generosity who made this world a better place for all who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Joe. I will miss you but will always feel your comforting presence when I am at the lake.
My deep condolences to the Stalzer family and all of Joe's many devoted friends and colleagues.
Affectionately,
Nancy Boshoven
