Mr Joseph K Wilson's Obituary
Joseph Kenneth Wilson passed away on June 28 2013 following a long illness. He was 82 years old. Joe was born on November 17, 1930 to Ernest and Gertrude Wilson. He married the former Myrtle Garrett and they were blessed with 6 children. Joe was a busy man and could do just about any job the world threw at him. For work he was a police officer, bus driver, and worked maintenance at a nursing home. He also spent over 15 years as a supervisor at Newkirk Electric. Even with supporting his large family Joe enjoyed his life. He loved his dogs, playing guitar, spending time at the race track, and he loved to travel. He was always busy doing something. In 1994 Joe lost his first wife Myrtle and remarried the former Sandra Snyder. They enjoyed retirement together and had many great years. To Joe above all else, he loved his family. He was a generous outspoken man who could light up any room he walked into. He will be deeply missed. SURVIVORS include his wife Sandra; 4 children Brenda (Henry) Wiggins, Ken (Jan) Wilson, Rita (John) Raap, and Sherrie (Ted Merriman) Garrett; 3 step children Steve (Pam) Gates, Kristine (Craig) Williamsen, and Brian Gates; 2 daughter-in-laws Bonnie Wilson and Melissa Wilson; and step daughter-in-law Donna Gates; 23 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren; and 4 more great great grandchildren on the way; brother-in-law Charles Garrett; sister Ida Jean Wright and very special friend of over 60 years Wayne Gale; He was PRECEDED in death by his 2 sons Steve, and Daniel “Boone” Wilson; his former wife Myrtle; step son Daniel Gates, Brothers Ernst “Bud” and Lawrence” Pat” “24” Wilson; and 3 sisters Joan Metz, Doris Combs, and Margret Wilson; mother-in-law Lillie Garrett. SERVICES will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday July 2nd 2013 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St 231-798-1100. with Pastor Rick Rogers officiating. VISITATION will be held on Monday July 1st 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm as well as one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be at Egelston Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Harbor Hospice.
