Joseph A. Martella's Obituary
Mr. Joseph A. Martella, age 56, died at his home Sunday evening, November 16, 2003, surrounded by his family. He was born October 14, 1947 in Rutland, MA and had resided in the Muskegon area the past 26 years. Joe was the Development Director of the Greater Ottawa County United Way and was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Joe was an avid runner and golfer and had formerly been a member of both the Spring Lake Country Club and Oak Ridge Golf Club. He also served as a Board Member of Tri-Cities United Way and had been a Football Referee for MHSAA for 26 years. On November 23, 1968 he married the former Snow Gravenstreter and she survives him along with 3 daughters, Kimberly (Greg) Daniels of Roosevelt Park, Kristin (Craig) Schaub of North Muskegon and Kari (Jeff) Anderson of Norton Shores; 6 grandchildren, T.J., Hunter, Markus, Michael, Spencer and Haley; his parents, Joseph (M.D.) & Isabella Martella of Roosevelt Park; 1 brother, Thomas (Jana) Martella of Washington, D.C., 2 sisters, Maria (Allan) Houlberg of Lafayette, CA and Teresa (James) Kelly of Columbus, IN; 8 sisters and brothers-in-law and several nieces and nephews. A MASS FOR THE DEAD, will be celebrated 10:00 AM Thursday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. VISITATION with Joe’s family will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at
