Joyce Leone Tyler's Obituary
Mrs. Joyce Leone Tyler, age 96, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 following a brief illness. On February 13, 1943, Joyce married Elwood “Woody” Tyler and together they raised their family in Muskegon. Joyce was a stay-at-home mom and was very active in her children’s upbringing. She was active with the Orchard View PTA, volunteered as a Patrol Mother, and was an assistant Den Mother for Cub Scouts. Joyce, along with her husband, built their own home. They also had a cottage in Baldwin where they enjoyed spending time and many great memories were made. Later in life, after raising her family, Joyce was very proud to have gone back to school to earn her high school diploma. She enjoyed crafts, reading, maintaining her flower gardens, feeding the birds and squirrels in her yard, and she looked forward to Lawrence Welk every Saturday night. She is survived by her three children, Jane Simonson, Richard Tyler, and Bruce (Judy) Tyler; five grandchildren, Sean (Chrystal Venne) Simonson, Noelle Simonson, Annette (Mike) Conn, Molly (Jason) Sweeney, Gregory (Mindy) Tyler; ten great-grandchildren, Treyton, Taylan, Ryker, Isabel, Willow, Mikelle, Kendal, Cole, Madelyn, Mackenzie; and Mikey, her beloved cat. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood “Woody” Tyler; daughter-in-law, Marva Tyler; and sister, Gwendolyn Rogers. Due to current state restrictions concerning Covid-19 and social distancing, Joyce’s family will have a private service. BURIAL will be in Restlawn Cemetery. MEMORIALS in her memory may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444.
