J. Roger Holmstrom, age 83, of Spring Lake (formerly of Muskegon) passed away Thursday, August 4, 2005, in Muskegon. He was born March 2, 1922, to John Axel and Ellin A. (Selander) Holmstrom in Ludington and married the former Don Read Obituary
To the family of Roger Holmstrom, I'm sorry I was not aware of Roger's passing until after the funeral. I worked with Roger for many years. He was a trmendous help, inspiration and personal friend to my father and uncle as they weathered the early years of Quality Farm & Fleet. I always had the utmost respect for Roger. I am just a good friend of Roger's thru the Mixer family and knowing "Putt".
Roger was a patient in both dental offices where I worked before retiring. When meeting Roger out shopping, etc. he always had a great big hug and always interested in me and my family.

I knew Roger for many years--he was a great help to my father in setting up our business (Reid Tool Supply Co.) with a good foundation to handle business affairs and to help with our personal affairs too. I worked with him for years when he came to audit the books. He was as much as a good friend as well as an helper to all of us. We miss him. We are sorry that we cannot attend the visitation for your dad or the funeral. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in remembering what a very special man he was. Although we did not know him well, we certainly heard much about him and his family throughout the years from your grandmother, Elin. The times we did get to see him, he will always be remembered as a friendly, sincere man who seemed so interested in his Selander cousins and their offspring. We also remember with gratitude his kind expressions of sympathy when we lost our dad and our mother. It seems so very sad to lose these wonderful, Swedish relatives and the history that goes with them, from times spend in Ludington to times and stories of the Ludington cousins visiting "the farm" in Copemish.

It was a pleasure to have met Roger several years ago when he stopped to visit his boyhood home here in Ludington. We are happy to know that a very fine family built and lived many good years in this home. You are welcome to visit anytime!
