Karen Lou Lankhorst's Obituary
It is with great sadness, we share that Karen L. Lankhorst, 73, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at The Leila and Cyrus Poppen Hospice Residence. She was a devoted wife, a loving mom, a proud grandma and great-grandma, and a gentle presence to all who knew her. Born in Zeeland, Michigan, Karen was the daughter of Anson and Angeline Heyboer. She graduated from Western Michigan Christian High School, attended Calvin College and Ferris State, and married the love of her life, David Lankhorst, on March 30, 1972. Together, they shared 53 beautiful years of marriage, raising a family and building a life filled with faith, kindness, and laughter in Grand Haven. Karen’s greatest joy was being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought light to her days. Her quiet strength, compassion, and unwavering love shaped all of our lives. She is survived by her husband David; their children, Jennifer, Christopher (Christy), and Patrick (Jennie); grandchildren Kennedy (Matt), Ryan, Kaitlyn, Jaxon and Dylan; great-grandchildren Westin and Brinley; beloved siblings, Tom Heyboer, Mark and Patti Heyboer, Sue and Ron Windemuller, Crick Fles, and Sally and Harry Tenbrink, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anson and Angeline Heyboer, her sister-in-law Debbie Heyboer, and her brother-in-law Bill Fles. A visitation will be held on Monday, June 16, 2025, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at First Christian Reformed Church located at 516 S. Ferry Street in Grand Haven, Michigan, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00AM and a luncheon afterward where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Grand Haven Christian School. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services.
